COURSE OVERVIEW

The Melillo MethodChildhood Neurodevelopmental Disorders Course is  founded with the principles of developmental functional neurology. The course will focus on specific stages of brain development from the womb to adulthood. This course is about functionally measuring and examining the brain as it goes through stages: identifying when, where and why brain development is altered in its functional development. These modules will be very hands-on lectures and it will entail the understanding of what is happening in the brain in each condition, the root cause, and how to diagnose with specific treatment protocols.  

Dr. Melillo believes that this life-changing course needs to be experiential and immersive; where the student/healthcare professional will be learning and assessing their own brain from a developmental perspective. The course will also be introducing a new and exciting area of treatment known as “Digital Medicine”.  This includes the use of cutting edge tools such as lasers, virtual reality, video games, and frequencies of sound. On completion of this course, you will be qualified for the Fellowship board exam and will have the opportunity to be certified.

ABOUT DR. ROBERT MELILLO

Dr. Robert Melillo, MS, DC, PhD(C)DABCN,FACFN,FABCDD, has been helping children overcome learning disabilities for over 30 years. He is also the author of four best-selling books, Disconnected Kids, Reconnected Kids, Disconnected Kids: Nutrition Plan, and Autism.  His areas of expertise include: autism spectrum disorders, PDD/NOS, ADD/ADHD, OCD, dyslexia, Asperger’s, Tourette’s, bipolar disorder, and other mental, attention, behavioral and learning disorders. He is also an expert in diet, nutrition and neuroimmune disorders in children and adults.

TOPICS FOR EACH MODULE

Module 1

Infant and Child Physical and Neurological Exam: The first module is an introduction to childhood neurobehavioral disorders starting by examining the newborn and the child. The course will with basic neuron theory and gross anatomy of the brain and will review the different stages of evolutionary brain development.  It will also introduce cutting edge treatment tools in the emerging field of “Digital Medicine”.

Module 2

ADHD, OCD, Tourette’s: Part I: This module introduces Hyperkinetic Disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Tourette’s Syndrome. In this course, it will review extensively on comorbidity, epidemiology and prevalence, then focus more on ADHD.  It will also present various live and videotaped cases of children with ADHD, OCD, Tourette’s and discuss as a group the various treatment options.

Module 3

ADHD, OCD, Tourette’s Part II: This module introduces Hyperkinetic Disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Tourette’s Syndrome. The relationship of Dyslexia to left hemisphere function and dysfunction will be heavily emphasized as well as the relationship between the dorsal and ventral cortical systems for vision and hearing.There will be hands on experience using virtual reality, computer games, frequencies of sound and vibration. This will also be connected to the use of laser directly on the brain as well as acupuncture points and other condition specific locations and protocols.

Module 4

Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 1: This module continues the Brain Developmental Blueprint and the progression from the bottom up through the brain. This module is the only course where protocols will be implemented on how to examine autistic kids, how to develop treatment plans and how to train the parents to do this at home. This module we will be focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders and primarily right brain disorders using digital medicine. There will be hands on experience using virtual reality, computer games, frequencies of sound and vibration.

Module 5

Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2: This module continues the Brain Developmental Blueprint and the progression from the bottom up through the brain. This module is the only course where protocols will be implemented on how to examine autistic kids, how to develop treatment plans and how to train the parents to do this at home. This module we will be focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders and primarily right brain disorders using digital medicine. There will be hands on experience using virtual reality, computer games, frequencies of sound and vibration.

Module 6

Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities Part 1: In this module, it will focus on academic learning disabilities and dyslexia. There will be an emphasis on left-brain disorders that affect reading, academics, memory and learning throughout our lives. This module will also feature specific hands-on practicum known as Learning Disabilities Simulation Training.

Module 7

Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities Part 2: In this module, it will focus on academic learning disabilities and dyslexia. There will be an emphasis on left-brain disorders that affect reading, academics, memory and learning throughout our lives. This module will also feature specific hands-on practicum known as Learning Disabilities Simulation Training.

Module 8

Behavioral and Attachment Considerations in Neurobehavioral disorders in Children with Learning Disabilities: In this module, there will be a focus on attachment, behavioral and learning disorders which involve both right and left brain networks, and how to use digital medicine. This module is one of the most powerful modules in this program because it will provide a complete and expert understanding of normal and abnormal human behavior and relationships and how to specifically change behaviors. There will be hands-on experience using virtual reality, computer games, frequencies of sound and vibration. This will also be connected to the use of laser directly on the brain as well as acupuncture points and other condition specific locations and protocols.

Module 9

Nutrition and Immune Considerations for Children with Learning Disabilities and Preconception Prevention for Adults: This module introduces the evolutionary development of human diet, digestive function and its relationship to brain growth. It will discuss the preconception and prenatal prevention of autism and other neurobehavioral disorders. It will also explain the specific roles of the hemispheres in immune function, gut regulation, digestion, endocrine responses and how this relates to left and right brain syndromes.

FAQ

What is the difference between the certificate and fellowship?

After completing the course, an attendee (in person or on line) is able to take a test upon completion of the entire program.  For a non-healthcare professional, IAFNR (The international association of Functional Neurology & Rehabilitation) will be offering a certificate test. This will enable non-healthcare professionals to take an on line test and receive a certificate for their hard work and to acknowledge their achievement in completing 100+ hours of training in childhood neurodevelopmental disorders.  Healthcare professionals can also take the certificate testing but are recommended to sit for a fellowship test.

The fellowship testing is administered through IBFN (International Board of Functional Neurology). This is a post-gradate degree for a Fellowship in Childhood Neurodevelopmental Disorders and is recognized internationally as such.  For more information visit www.ibfn.org.

Will there be a review before the fellowship examination?

Yes, there is an optional “module 10” for this CND program that is required for those who wish to take the Fellowship examination. This is an Advanced Clinical Case & Review Module.

The certificate exam also has an optional review class available on line.

Does this apply to my continuing education?

Our video replays do not have state hours but diplomate hours are available. The course is CAGEN approved and hours are administered through National Institute of Health Sciences.
