The next module of my Childhood Developmental Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders Certification Course is coming up this weekend on January 28-29, 2017. You have the option to attend in person at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL or you can live stream from the comfort of your home or office! Replays of previous modules are available in case you need to catch up!
In this course module we continue to review the increasing prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Autism, Asperger’s, and PDD and other disorders that make up Autism Spectrum Disorders. We review diagnostic criteria including behavioral checklists and history and review concepts of epigenetics and environmental factors and their roles.
We will review functional disconnection syndrome and its relationship to the symptoms of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and continue to learn about sensory, motor and cognitive based stimulation to remediate ASD. Practical workshop skills will be taught regarding treatment and therapy modalities and remediation exercises as they specifically relate to Autistic Spectrum disorders. Pre-conception ASD will be discussed, nutritional recommendations, consideration and testing will also be discussed along with food allergies and casual relationship to ASD. This is a continuation from Module 4 of Autism and will tie in with many of the concepts and research presented during that module as well.
